For the last couple of days, Firefox 3.0.7 (on XP) has not been remembering any of my login details for any site. It was working ok before.

Before I try an uninstall/reinstall does anyone have any ideas?

Was it the last Windows update? Hmmm...

It shouldn't have lost your settings during the update. Mine didn't. Have you done any other installing/uninstalling during that time period?

It might have something to do with the antiquated XP operating system. Just a guess.

Mine didn't.

Same here. Are you using an add-on for this? Sometimes an update can muck them up temporarily, until they catch up.

I'm using it on XP fine here, as I expect millions of others are, so that's probably not the issue.

XP may be antiquated, but it's rock solid (IME).

No add-ons, no installs, just this weirdness

I have to point the finger at the last Windows update, it's too much of a coincidence time wise.

Indeed - better than using a beta, sorry, Vista...

Funny you mention this,Fuzzy. Yesterday I had to log back on to WC(home page and forums) multiple times.I just put it down as a site issue, maybe it wasn't.I use Vista/IE7 so it could just be a coincedence.

PFFFFTTTT XP is fine.  No password problems on my end with latest Firefox though.

Maybe, the last Windows Update installed touchscreen drivers for my laptop automatically.... I don't have a touchscreen...    WTF?

Fuzzy, was your FF3 open during the Windows update?

on Mar 12, 2009

I know what is happening.

When I start either FF or IE (they both do it) my cookies are deleted.

I tried this with FF and IE. I opened a few sites, logged in, then closed. The cookies were still there. I opened the prog and 'poof', the cookies were gone...

I had that issue a couple of days ago. For one moment  I had to actually log on to many sites manually, but never lost the log on info. before the end of the day all seemed ok and would nothave remembered had it not been for this article. And I use aportable version of Firefox  on my portable harddrive at work.

I had a FireFox issue for a few days end last week/early this week, dam thing would not stay up, kept closing down, had to use IE.  Then 2 days ago it chirps up "applied an update "(sic) for your benefit as a valued client" (euphamistic paraphrasing) - and it was a rapid (3/4 seconds) update.  No hassle since.  I get a feeling there was an "oooppss" in the background and a rapid fix came out.

Whatever the scenario, it appears fine now.

Actually, the beta is called Windows 7

My firefox has screwed up my webmail site so bad that the usual logging in windows doesn't work. It's propably a two second fix, but meh..

Try the FF add-on Sxipper.  It's worked very well for me and I can import it to other browsers and computers. I've never had an issue after any updates.

Close FF. Un-hide folders. Search and delete:  cookies.sqlite . Restart FF

(C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\)

Can I assume you just updated Zone Alarm?
