Here's hoping my Windows 7 disc arrives soon, because I've had enough of Vista.

Explorer window: Suddenly, for no reason, this will forget what size it was. It will open up about 640x480 and I will have to resize it.

Start Menu: I've all sorts of problems with this, mainly due to permissions. It wouldn't allow programs to create shortcuts on installation, I couldn't move items to where I wanted etc.

Worst, a few moments ago, the Games folder vanished. Poof! Just gone. After half an hour searching for it, I had to restore from yesterday's backup to get it back...

it keeps changing Games folder from big icons to list

I almost forgot, mine randomly changes folders to photos instead of list.

I've been using Vista x64 since I got my new computer almost a year ago. The only issues I've had are with UAC.

I'm so glad I went from XP to Win 7 and skipped over Vista.

I must be one of the lucky ones,

There's more than one?.....

Yup, I've had no major issues with Vista... well none that I hadn't caused myself.  While I had some teething issues early on with Vista Ultimate x86, Vista Home Premium SP2 in the 64 bit version has never let me down in the 12 months I've been using it.

Having said that, I am enjoying using Win 7 x64 tremendously... a major improvement on Vista all round.

I had some serious issues with Vista SP1 at startup.  It would take 2-3 tries to boot sometimes, but would run fine once the Vista logo came up.  After SP2, I've had no issues at all with Vista.  I'm eventually getting a free copy of Win7 from work, but may just wait for Win7 SP1 before I upgrade anyway.  None of the new features I've heard of sound like they're worth a reformat at the moment.

How about faster, more responsive?  How about faster file move/copy?  Better/easier networking?  Less bloat and clutter?

While Win 7 may look similar to Vista, it is a vastly improved OS and certainly more productive.

Yup, definitely worth a reformat... and with a free copy through work, even moreso.

Yeah, I also had no real issues with it, short of being butt ugly, a terribly designed navigation system [explorer and start menu] and a massive pain in the ass to skin.

Other than that.. it was only 4 stars less attractive to me than XP...

On a 4 star scale.

I'm so far around the bend I don't even remember the curve.   No wonder Vista seems normal to me.

I'm so far around the bend that I can make out my own butt just a little way up ahead.

Good thing there's no 'with' between 'out' and 'my' ...

Apparently I'm a lucky one too.  I've had my Vista for over four months now, and it's been great.  The only problem I had was when an update didn't install properly and it kept crashing, but in less than an hour I was able to roll it back to the previous update status.  But that was a one-in-a-million glitch.  Other than that, I couldn't possibly be happier with it.

...Unless it came with free coffee or something.

I've heard of 'coming full circle', but that'd be taking it tooooooo far.

OK, shall we bring an END to that discussion?
